The UMC Advantage
Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences and have many horticultural career options. Your classmates are a mix of traditional college students and returning students who may be preparing for a career change or want to further develop their horticultural interest. You will develop technical, scientific, educational, management, research, leadership, and interpersonal skills to succeed in your chosen fields.
The
polytechnic approach provides you with a thorough hands-on program
to turn your interest in plants into successful careers. Class labs
are actual growing enterprises and the UMC campus provides excellent
opportunities to hone your landscaping and designing skills. Complementary
liberal arts and business management courses prepare you for a satisfying
and life-long career as a horticulture professional.

combines a solid foundation of applied science courses with practical
mechanical and technical expertise. We blend in a strong business
operations and management background and interpersonal communication
skills for a well-balanced horticultural science program. As a result,

to the ever-changing demands of the horticulture industry.
