The UMC Advantage
The Applied Studies program is a good path for anyone looking to build on past work and previous educational experiences to earn a bachelor’s degree. It can be a direct avenue for meeting career objectives by allowing students to tailor their individual program of study through selecting courses that may improve their job prospects. It is especially convenient for students who transfer with a certificate, diploma, or associate degree in an occupational field.
Transfer students into Applied Studies have found that most of their previous technical or community college credits were accepted into their degree program. The experienced faculty advisors were able to help them map out the shortest legitimate route to a bachelor of science degree.
UMC has an excellent working plan with the U S Air Force ROTC program located at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Students can complete ROTC requirements, complete their B.S. in Applied Studies and become commissioned as an officer in the Air Force.
UMC has a long standing collaboration with Northwest Technical College at East Grand Forks that allows students to work towards an AAS in Respiratory Care or Radiologic Technology while also developing a course of study in Applied Studies for a baccalaureate degree.
