children for the rest of their life. The authors of the longest longitudinal
study (children through 27 years of age) state the following in their
findings. "As early childhood advocates, we can say, in all modesty,
that we have stronger evidence of the importance of our work than
do teachers at any other level or workers in any type of social service."
